Do Not Underestimate the Power of Family Time
If there is only one thing you can do with full dedication, make it family time
The life of modern man is a rush! There are too many things to keep up and too many tasks to do. It all seems like a race with everyone and with yourself. And in such an increased pace, staying in the moment is even a special talent.
It is a bit strange how we are getting busier — or feel busier — as life gets easier. Compared to old times, we have lots of technology to ease up our everyday tasks. But this does not free up our limited time to spend on what we love or on our loved ones.
A BBC article, “Why you feel busy all the time (when you’re actually not)”, makes an interesting point that the nature of work in former eras, dominated by farming and manufacturing, was controlled by certain limits. Because you cannot harvest the crops before they are ready, or you cannot produce physical products more than the available products allows. And this sets a natural pace that we can keep up.
However, in today’s world, we are mostly dealing with knowledge work that turns into an infinite world with no controls due to nature and physical assets. That creates more pressure on us as we try to create or deal with an infinite amount of work with our finite capacity.
